Peter Røysland Aarnes joins IAI
We welcome Peter Røysland Aarnes as our new PhD student, who will focus his research on explainable AI for fact-checking. Funded by the SFI MediaFutures research center, he will contribute to the Media Content Production & Analysis work package, under the supervision of Vinay Setty.
Petra Galuscakova joins IAI
Associate Professor Petra Galuscakova joins IAI as a faculty member. Petra will work on an intersection of information retrieval and natural language processing. She is interested in providing robust access strategies for complex search scenarios, such as cross-language retrieval and speech retrieval. Petra holds a PhD from Charles University in Prague, after which she spent some time at the University of Maryland and Université Grenoble-Alpes.
Simone Borg Bruun visits IAI
Simone Borg Bruun is a third-year PhD student affiliated with the University of Copenhagen and Alka Forsikring. She is working on recommender systems for the insurance domain. Her research interests include learning from sparse and dynamic user actions, multimodal learning, and explainability. Simone will be spending 2 months with us.
Ivan Sekulić visits IAI
Ivan Sekulić is a third-year PhD student at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland. He is working on conversational approaches to information retrieval and will be spending 3 months with us.
Nolwenn Bernard and Weronika Łajewska join IAI
We welcome two new PhD students to our group: Nolwenn Bernard and Weronika Łajewska. Both of them are funded by the Norwegian Research Center for AI Innovation (NorwAI) research center and will be contributing to the Language and Personalization work package under Krisztian Balog’s supervision.
